Transportation

To reach the camp, you must first fly to Anchorage (ANC). Many airlines fly to Anchorage, direct from major cites in the United States and many countries. You can find a list of airlines serving Anchorage here http://www.dot.state.ak.us/anc/travelerInfo/airlineInfo.shtml.

Typically, you plan to arrive at the camp the afternoon before your first day of guided fishing and depart the morning or early afternoon after your last day of fishing. For those anglers with busy schedules, it is possible to depart Anchorage the morning of your first day of guided fishing and depart the camp in the evening after your last day of fishing.

From Anchorage, you may either fly to Dillingham (DLG) or King Salmon (AKN). We recommend that groups of 4 or larger fly to King Salmon and smaller groups choose Dillingham. Your decision however may ultimately depend on which one connects better with your arrival and departure at Anchorage. You may also choose to fly into one town and depart from the other. We don’t know of any other camp or lodge in Bristol Bay that offers you this flexibility.

DUE TO A SCHEDULED COMMITMENT OF OUR KING SALMON FLOAT PLANE, DO NOT PLAN ON ARRIVING OR DEPARTING KING SALMON DURING THE PERIOD OF JUNE 28 - 30. USE DILLINGHAM INSTEAD.

Two airlines fly to DLG and AKN, Alaska Airlines www.alaskaair.com and Penair www.penair.com. Penair is the more frequent carrier and is generally more ‘on time’ than the Alaska Air jets. Penair is especially convenient if you spend some time in Anchorage, because there is no security check required for this regional airline. There is only one Alaska Air arrival and departure each day to these towns while there are 4 or 5 Penair flights. In any case, you can usually check your bags all the way through from your home airport to DLG and AKN. The following table will help your plan your flights, but these could change so please check their websites for their current schedule. Bear in mind that Alaska Air has one of the worst on time record of US airlines, so plan extra time between your connections at Anchorage.

When you reach DLG or AKN, HRM staff or the air taxi service will meet you at the airport. You do not need to schedule an air taxi flight to camp as we will schedule the flights after we receive everyone’s itineraries. The flight to camp is included in the camp price, however as noted elsewhere on the website http://www.hrmsports.com/FlyOutAdventures.php, there are optional side trips available which may be at extra cost.

As soon as you have your itinerary planned, please email or phone us with that information. If you have special needs, just let us know. See www.hrmsports.com/PackingList.php for packing suggestions.

We look forward to seeing you in Alaska!
